Gemport goes live with Navis N4

Turkish operator Yilport today announced that its Gemport container terminal, in Gemlik, has gone live with the latest version of Navis N4.

The migration from the legacy “home-grown” software to the new Terminal Operating System (TOS) was performed over the weekend, said Yilport CTO Omer Artuk.

Yilport is to soon open a second terminal in Gemlik. The site has already received four Super Post-Panamax gantry cranes. Manufactured by Mitsui Engineering and Shipbuilding (MES), the machines can handle 18,000 TEU ships.

Besides the two facilities in Gemlik, Yilport operates terminals in Gebze and Yarimca. A few months ago, Yilport selected APS Technology to provide gate automation and operating solutions at its four multipurpose ports in Turkey. The system is meant to allow control clerks to manage exceptions at multiple terminals from one location.

“Yilport has standardised on Navis and will now look to deploy the APS crane and gate OCR systems as a part of the terminal modernisation programme,” said CEO Sean Pierce. “Additional technologies to be deployed include the Bromma weight sensors, web portals for e-commerce, power and equipment monitoring systems, and an intense focus on integration with our customers.”
