Jebel Ali electrifies 8 RTGs

DP World today announced that it has electrified eight diesel powered Rubber Tyred Gantry (RTG) cranes at its flagship Jebel Ali Port to mitigate the environmental impact of its operations.

The activity at the port of Rotterdam is “not at all” disrupted by the fire that erupted this morning on an oil platform, the port authority told Port Finance International.

Barcelona launches Eco-calculator

The port of Barcelona, in north-eastern Spain, today launched an Eco-calculator to help its users measure their CO2 emissions.

The Port of Antwerp Authority today announced that it has appointed EXMAR, an LNG carrier operator, as its strategic partner for LNG bunkering in the Belgian port.

DP World yesterday announced that it has received an ISO certification for security management encompassing its all four ports in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) region.

India’s Adani Group has been fined Rs 2 billion (US$30.6M) for environment violations in Mundra, in the western state of Gujarat.

The Port of Rotterdam is entering into a joint venture with E.ON, Stedin, Evides Industriewater, and Vopak in order to set up a bio-based cluster in Maasvlakte 2.

Indian ports placed on high alert

India’s Major Ports have been placed on high alert following a directive from the Home ministry on a possible threat to security to ports in the southern state of Tamil Nadu.

The Port of Los Angeles says that pollution associated with its operations has significantly decreased over the last seven years.

The Port of Long Beach says that it has cut diesel particulates by 81% since 2005.
