Konecranes today reports that it has received an order from the Norwegian port of Oslo for two Panamax-size ship-to-shore cranes, which it hopes to make the most silent STS cranes in the world.

The Finnish equipment manufacturer says that the cranes will be delivered in the autumn of 2015. The order includes an option for one more STS.

Located close to densely populated areas, the Oslo Sjursöya container terminal has set “extremely stringent noise and CO2 emissions limits” for the new STS cranes, notes Konecranes.

“Our goal is to deliver the world’s most silent STS cranes to Port of Oslo,” said Juha Aatola, Konecranes’ general manager, STS Cranes. “We have applied the most advanced noise reduction knowledge and technology in order to meet the Port of Oslo’s very tough requirements.”

The cranes will be erected in Finland. They will be equipped with the Ship Profiling. Trim/List/Skew systems will be included, as well as LED lights for eco-efficiency. The STS will have twin-lift operation, a lifting capacity of 64 tonnes, and an outreach of 40 metres.
