CMA CGM to open dry port in Baghdad

French shipping company CMA CGM announced this morning that it would open a dry port in the Abu Ghreib area, near Baghdad, in June 2013.

Managed and operated by CMA CGM, the dry port will be the only one in Iraq, giving customers the opportunity to custom clear their cargo near Baghdad instead of Umm Qasr port, says the Marseilles-based group in a press release. It will have a storage capacity of 12,000 TEUs and a yard surface of 90,000 sqm.

The storage facilities for full containers, LCL (Less Container Load) and refrigerated cargo will benefit from 24 hours surveillance services, says CMA CGM.
