BAM completes new port in Aqaba

BAM International announced this morning that it has successfully completed the construction of a new port in Aqaba, Jordan, for Aqaba Development Corporation (ADC).

Together with its Jordanian joint venture partner MAG, the Dutch engineering company was responsible for the design and construction of four new berths in this €65 million contract. Besides the approximately 800 metres of quay wall, the contract covered revetment works, a breakwater, pontoons and a slip way, as well as land reclamation and dredging works (800,000 m3).

The second Aqaba port is in line with Jordan’s economic master plan.

Last year BAM and MAG completed the quay extension of the Aqaba Container Terminal (ACT) for Aqaba Development Corporation and APM Terminals.

BAM is also currently building a Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) terminal 18 kilometres south of Aqaba for ADC, which has been tasked by the Amman government with developing Jordan’s energy intake capabilities.
